Summary
Party 6 continues on attempting to make progress towards finding the Keep. At one point they bury the amulet because they suspect it is the reason they have gotten lost.
They encounter a members of a closed society of people who have large silver disc like eyes that take up their entire eye sockets and point slightly to the side. The members call themselves Kalaans and return the amulet to they party. The party offers a trade of meat pies for help finding their way back to the keep. The Kalaans say that the elders need to be the ones that are consulted and the bring the party to their small village high up in the mountains. The Kalaans also mention that the adventurers had gotten lost on their own and no magic was involved.
There, the pair of adventurers learn about their history. Specifically, how they are descendants of aquatic creatures from another dimension who were transformed into their current human-like bodies by the aboleth Shalathazar. In their conversation the pair learn that the Kalaans were deceived by Conrad who had promised to return them to their ancestral home. All the Kalaans were present when he opened a magical doorway, but only half went through. Upon returning to their village, the Kalaans found it ransacked. A large amount of their gold coins, featuring three fish sharing a single eye, were stolen during this time.
It was understood that if their journey was successful some of the Kalaans would return for the ones who remained behind in Mystara. However, the Kalaans have reason to believe that Conrad has returned, but none of the Kalaans have.
If Conrad can be brought to the Kalaans, along with any evidence that he was responsible, the Kalaans would be willing to perform a ritual that grants the ability to breathe underwater for a time. They also show interest and support for a raid on the aboleth itself.
